Unleash 2012

Wow… where to begin?

I’m a pastors kid.  It’s one of the coolest and most annoying things about me.  I mean that in the nicest way possible.  Usually when  people find that out they ask me: “So are you the goody good pastors kid?  Or the rebellious one?”

I usually smile and say I’m the rebellious kind.

You can decide for yourself if thats true or not 🙂

Being a pastors kid, my dad has been my pastor for 99% of my life.  A few years ago I was soul searching.  I was hungry for the word and I wanted more than just “what my daddy said on Sunday”.  I stumbled upon a church online called Newspring…. and well, I fell in love.  Every week I would download the pastor’s message on my iPod and listen.  It was refreshing, recharged my batteries, and affirmed a lot of what I already knew (thanks to my daddy, no less).  Time passed and I introduced dad to NewSpring online.  He too, listened weekly, and he became inspired.

So, Wednesday of last week, dad and I packed up our car ready for a day long road trip.  Our destination was Anderson, South Carolina and we were PUMPED.  NewSpring was no longer just going to be “online” for us, it was going to be in person.  We cranked up the tunes, bought loads of junk food (mainly red hots & pretzels) and said goodbye to good ole Virginia.

Every year around this time, NewSpring Church has a conference for church leaders called Unleash.  It’s goal is to equip, encourage and serve pastors and leaders in the ministry.  There is excellent teaching, incredible worship, breakout sessions, and so many opportunities to talk to other church leaders one-on-one.  NewSpring’s Senior Pastor, Perry Noble has a heart of gold and made us feel right at home.

Dad and I left, with a lot on our hearts.  I still don’t know exactly how to put everything into words…. Soon and very soon though, change is coming… and I am SO excited!!!!  I’m praying through a lot of it… expect to see more “ramblings” in the weeks to come 🙂

We were SO SPOILED I thought I had died and gone to heaven.  Honestly, NewSpring is so hospitable and so KIND!  A big shout out to the hundreds of volunteers and staff that made Unleash2012 possible!!!!!

Thank you Perry Noble, for welcoming us to your home church and doing what you do best.  Dad and I had a BLAST soaking up all there was to learn and taking every opportunity to dig deeper.  Thank you, Jesus, for this huge blessing through NewSpring!
